About

The beginning

Steve Smith used to sell backboards to competitive students to maximize their ability to progress on their own. The backboard company did not pay Steve for selling backboards, he just sold them because he knew that competitive players needed a way to hit more balls. "Piano players know that after their 30 min piano lesson, they need to go home and drill for hours and hours before the next lesson. Tennis players often only practice when a coach is around them. The backboard should change that dynamic." After years, that company went out of business and no one else sold backboards. After years of not having an option to point his tennis players to, he hired someone to create his own model of the backboard. The Great Base Tennis Backboard was born and has been going strong for more than 10 years now. Andrew Garcia, a Great Base Alumni, now runs the business from Tampa FL.
